Q: WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
CYC is in a white house at 104 East Boundary Street. We are across the street from Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church.
Q: WHERE DO I PARK?
Street parking is available at the corner of Boundary and Beaufort streets and along Boundary street in front of the studio. Students may also park in the two spaces behind Barts Coffee or in the driveway of our studio.
Q: WHAT CLASSES ARE BEST FOR BEGINNERS?
We recommend you start with YOGA 101 to learn basic postures and proper alignment; however, most classes can be modified for band new yogis. Other classes that are good for beginners are: Deep Stretch, Yin & Flow, Stretch & Strengthen, and Gentle Yoga.
Q: MY DOCTOR SAID I SHOULD TRY YOGA, WHAT CLASSES ARE BEST FOR BACK PAIN, ARTHRITIS, ETC.?
All yoga is great for back pain and arthritis. If you are new, we recommend you start with Deep Stretch, Yin, Gentle or Stretch and Strengthen. Please let your instructors know if you have any health concerns and they can modify poses to assist you.
Q: WHAT DO I BRING?
Bring a water bottle and a mat if you have one. We do have loaner mats available for use, but we recommend owning a mat.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear clothing that allows you to move freely and covers anything others shouldn't see freely. Please wear deodorant and refrain from heavy fragrances.
Q: WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Arrive 10 – 15 minutes early on your first visit. Don’t be surprised to find the door locked. If there is a class is session, the door will remain locked until the class is over. There is usually only 15 minutes between classes. If you arrive too early, you may have to wait outside.
Q: IS IT OK TO COME IN LATE?
We understand that sometimes your day can be hectic. If you need to arrive a minute late, please slip in the back quietly. Please note that the door is locked 5 minutes into class.
Q: WHY DO I NEED TO TAKE MY SHOES OFF?
We ask yogis to remove their shoes when they enter the foyer in order to help keep our space clean.
Q: WHAT IS SAVASANA?
Savasana is the final resting pose of each yoga class. This will be a brief time of quiet and stillness. Over time, this will become one of your favorite postures. Please enjoy savasana quietly.
Q: IS YOGA A RELIGION?
NO. There is no creed, no profession of faith, no ritual of allegiance.
Q: HOW CAN YOGA IMPROVE MY QUALITY OF LIFE?
Yoga balances body, mind, and breath. It benefits your overall well-being allowing you to more efficiently process daily stress mentally & physically. Yoga increases flexibility, strength, and the ability to breathe. Yoga can also improve your posture and help you lose weight.
Q: WHY DO YOU SAY NAMASTE AT THE END OF EACH CLASS?
It’s a simple greeting or farewell meaning "I see the good in you." It is traditionally said to one another at the end of a yoga practice.
